Step by Step Instructions

Shut off the water to the vanity

Turn off the water and disconnect the water supply lines to the sink. Water may drip from the water supply line or the p-trap so place the bucket under them to collect any water that may drip down.

Remove the Countertop.

Gently loosen the caulk that is between the wall and the vanity using a utility knife. All along the sides go all the way to the floor to loosen the caulk that is there. To keep from damaging the wall carefully remove the countertop.

Remove the Old Vanity

Unattach the vanity from the wall by loosening and removing the screw that hold it in place. You will want to make sure that the screws do not get stripped in the process of removing them from the wall.

Find the Studs and Position the Vanity

You will need to locate the studs in the walls and mark them with the pencil. Make sure that you mark the studs a little bit higher than the new vanity. Next mark the new screw holes of the new vanity with a pencil. Then put the vanity in place and make sure that it is flush with the wall. You may have to use the shims to make it level. You will use the carpenter’s level to make sure that it is level.

Install the New Faucet

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to install the new faucet to the vanity top. You will then attach the bathroom vanity to the wall. Once it is positioned screw the vanity to the wall.

Secure the Vanity Top

You will do this by running a bead of tub or tile caulk around the top edges of the vanity base. Then place the vanity top on the top of the vanity to secure it.

Reconnect the Plumbing

Reconnect all the plumbing lines and if the p-trap is old replace it. Use plumber’s tape to make sure that the connections are tight. If necessary, contact plumbers around me.

Apple a thin bead of the caulk around the countertop edges to secure it to the wall and vanity. Use the tip of your finger or a damp rag to smooth the application of the caulk.
